Whether with friends, family, or by yourself, visiting a place located far away from where you live can be an a lot of fun and you can learn a lot. However, it still goes without saying the traveling part of that can be very boring, tiering, and even stressful. But here is a list of activities you can do that people of all ages can enjoy.
Guessing Games About Various Topics.
this can include topics about the world, such as those related to science, history, literature, sports, movies, Tv shows, art, and music.
You can an also quiz each other about yourselves, such as "what is my favorite ____?" or "Which do I prefer?"
Music related guessing games like finish the lyrics or guess what song the person is humming.
An additional idea is to guess what word each other are mispronouncing them based on spellings or as they are said backwards.
Guess My Word Rule.
I made it up myself. Someone comes up with a rule (without saying it aloud) and others figure out what the rule is
These rules may regard words' spellings and/ or pronunciations.
Some of these rules can be that they must have (or not have) a number of letters, number of syllables, a letter in a certain place, containing repeating letters in a row, silent letters.
(tip: once the person has their rule in mind, have them provide several examples of words that fit so others can get a hint.
Alphabet Games:
Coming up with something that falls into a category and starts with the next letter of the alphabet.
State License Plate
Pay attention to the license plates on other vehicles on the road and see how many states you can spot at least one plate of the state.
I recommend writing or printing a list of all 50 States you don't mind writing on so that you can cross them out.
You can also add tally marks to track how many for each state you find.
Asking each other questions
Ask each other random questions. I have a post all about that on the site.
Would you rather?
Tell Jokes and Riddles
It might be helpful to bring a book of jokes and/ or riddles with you for the car.
Speak Pig Latin
Simply have a casual conversation in Pig Latin
Translate favorite/ famous songs, stories, quotes from favorite movies & Tv shows, or anything involving words.
Ask/ answer simple questions in Pig Latin.
Everyone knows what color a bananas is, who George Washington was, and how to make a peanut butter sandwich, so why not try answering in Pig Latin
Similarly, instead of playing Guess My Word Rule, come up with or agree on a word rule together only use those words. instead of speaking Pig Latin.
